iPod Nano help

Hi all,
I bought an iPod Nano a few months ago, and it's been working fine until this morning when I plugged it in to charge it. As soon as I plugged it in, windows told me that the USB device could not be recognized. I don't know what I could've done. I always hit eject before I unplug it from the computer. There's a crack in the screen from when I dropped it once, but I'm not sure if that would be a contributing factor or not. I have a case on it. Anyways, Any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks,

Wish I could help but ours kicked the bucket a few weeks ago. It works but crashes ITunes no matter what we do. Good luck.
